Bad habits that ruins your sleep—These harmful practices not only spoil your sleep, they also damage your health. A good sleep during the night increases the productivity of a person. It also helps him in making good decisions, cope with fatigue, and remain happy and healthy throughout the day.
Research also shows that inefficiency at work is also related to less sleep during the night. Moreover, it is also a known fact that the prefrontal cortex which is the part that helps in solving problems also loses its efficiency if the person is deprived of sleep.
There are some bad habits that do not allow you to get enough sleep. Some of them are listed below:
Not working out
Studies have revealed that working out in the morning and afternoon allows you to get better sleep. Of course, it you are active, it doesn’t mean that all your sleep problems will be solved; however, it will have a very good effect on the same.
Eating a late
Having a big meal and going straight to bed also deprives you of sleep since the human digestive system is working overtime and during sleep. The whole system keeps working rather than resting and recharging for the next day. It is much better to eat earlier in the day rather than just before going to bed.
Using the smartphone in bed
There is ‘blue light’ emitted by the LEDs of smartphones. Studies have shown that this ‘blue light’ damages the vision of a person and also hinders the production of melatonin. It is a hormone that assists in regulating the sleep cycle in a person.
Trying to work in bed
This is a very bad habit. The laptop gives off light which also reduces the production of melatonin in the brain. Working in bed also means that you have no time to unwind before you go to sleep. Another reason why this is not suitable is that when you start working in bed, the brain associates the bed with work and thinks that it is a place where one is supposed to work rather than sleep.
Having liquor just before sleep
This is a bad habit that ruins your sleep altogether. People think that having a nightcap allows them to relax and unwind before going to sleep. This may prove right in the beginning but with time, it starts to have reverse effect.
