President Obama has stated that the mass shooting that took place in California may be related to terrorism, however, nothing concrete can be said until the authorities have completed their investigation. The incident could also be related to workplace violence or any other motive. However, Obama says motive for California shooting still not clear.

Speaking from the Oval office, the president assured Americans that the US authorities will do its very best to uncover what actually happened. He also requested the public not to pass judgments until the facts were clear. The California shootings occurred on December 02, 2015 in San Bernardino. The alleged perpetrators of the massacres were Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik who opened fire inside the Inland Regional Center auditorium killing 14 and injuring 21 people.

The target of the duo was a holiday party of the employees of health Department of the county. There were at least 100 people present inside the auditorium when the shooting began. Both Farook and Malik were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the police after four hours of the massacre.

As yet, the police have been unable to uncover any motive for the shootout. The investigation of the crime has been taken over by the FBI because of the weapons used in the shooting. It is also revealed that one of the perpetrators had recently visited the Middle East.

The California Shooting the regarded as the second most deadly shooting in the history of the state after the San Ysidro massacre. Obama reiterated the oft-repeated argument that Americans can do nothing about mass violence in the presence of lax gun control laws. He further said that Americans needed to be more vigilant in order to make it harder for people to indulge in these dreadful acts.

However, Obama acknowledged that the risk of such incidents cannot be entirely eliminated. It is imperative for the legislature to do whatever is in their power to stop this madness. Ten of the injured victims are treated in hospitals and are deemed to be in stable conditions. Barack Obama told a group of reporters that there is a possibility of the California shootings being connected to international terrorism. He further said that the only thing that is clear until now is that the couple has access to advanced weaponry. As to their motive, the president still seemed to be in the dark.
