There has been a conversation between US general Wesley Clark and Paul Wolfowitz in 1991/ Wolfowitz was the deputy secretary of Defense. General Clark recalls that the secretary told him that Pentagon had drawn plans of regime changes in Iraq, Iran and Syria.
The US military giant was planning to carry out these changes within the next 5 to 10 years. They were remnants of the old Soviet era and needed to be cleaned up before another super power appeared on the foreground.
General Clark further revealed that only a few weeks after the 9/11 attacks 2001, he was told by an official from the Defense department that a classified document had been issued that outlined the strategies to overthrow regimes in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia and Iran.
This was confirmed by the French minister of foreign affairs, Roland Dumas. He revealed that the British had been training Syrians prior to the popular revolt that broke out in the country against the autocratic rule of Bashar al Assad.
However, the Syrian civil war started as peaceful protests in early 2011 against the regime of Bashar al Assad who responded with violence.
It is particular attention that secret game behind in Syria, the US spent millions of dollars between 2006 and 2010 in order to carry out a propaganda campaign against the Syrian regime. The funding has been documented by thousands of cables through diplomatic channels. These funds were disbursed to several dissent organizations in various parts of the world.
Secret game behind the Syrian conflict was played out in many parts of the world as the Western allies educated journalists and activists for the coming showdown with the regime, and in order to enhance freedom of expression in that country that has been under an state of emergency for the past forty years.
It is not very difficult to decipher who is behind the war in Syria – a war that has rendered the country a waste and forced millions of Syrians to flee the country.
Today, Syria has become a place where everybody is flexing its muscles in order to become the sole hegemon in the region. From Iran to Russian and some of the Arab states and America, everyone is responsible for the plight of the Syrian people.
The country is being bombed daily by Russian sorties and American jets under the pretext of targeting the rebels and the Islamic State, yet the victims of these attacks are always civilians.
