The new Top Gear line-up announced

The new Top Gear line up 2016 has seven presenters including Eddie Jordan from Ireland, German racer Sabine Schmitz, journalist Chris Harris, and reviewer Rory Reid.

They will be joining Matt LeBlanc and Chris Evans for the BBC flagship motor show. The Stig will also be part of the show. Evans stated that the show will feature something for everyone. Eddie Jordan will bring Formula 1 experience to the famous show.

He is the founder of Jordan Grand Prix which is a Formula 1 constructor that competed for 15 years from 91 to 05. It also helped launched the careers of Eddie Irvine and Michael Schumacher.

Eddie Jordan stated that he was extremely excited to be part of the Top Gear team with Chris Evans and his team. He also said that he has great respect for all of his fellow presenters of Top Gear.

“Cars are in my DNA and although I’ve been fortunate enough to accomplish most things I ever aspired to in motorsport, presenting Top Gear is quite simply the icing on the cake.”Jordan said.

The only woman in the latest Top Gear lineup is Sabine Schmitz. She is also the first female in the show for the past 15 years. Vicki Butler-Henderson, Kate Humble, and Angela Rippon used to be presenters of the show before it was revived in 2002. Evans had told BBC radio after accepting the job in June that there will be a female presenter in the team.

Sabine, on her part, says that she has been racing for the better part of her life and a job in Top Gear will allow her to drive and film. She would never be able to pass up such a great opportunity.

The German racing driver also said that she has appeared in Top Gear a few times during the past and that she was sure it will be great fun. Some of the filing for the new show has already been completed.

Another presenter, Rory Reid was recruited during the auditions carried out last year through an invitation to the general public. He has a background in journalism and has appeared in the Car Tech channel and Gadget Geeks.

Chris Harris is an automotive journalist and a racing driver. Top Gear will return to BBC Two in May.
