Chicago Mayor Declares War on Trump as National Guard Lands in Illinois

Tensions Mount as Texas National Guard Deployed to Chicago

The Pentagon confirmed that Texas National Guard troops were sent to Illinois on Tuesday to help protect federal workers and property as anti-immigration protests continued to spread.

The deployment comes amid rising tensions and concerns about potential clashes, as demonstrators voice their anger over federal immigration policies.

Authorities say the move is a precautionary step to keep the situation under control and ensure the safety of both officials and civilians.

According to a Pentagon official, around 200 National Guard troops have been deployed for an initial 60-day period.

The deployment is part of precautionary measures to support local authorities and maintain security amid ongoing unrest.

Officials added that the mission’s duration could be adjusted depending on how the situation develops.

The recent military deployment follows a ruling by U.S. District Judge April Perry, who refused to temporarily block troops from entering the city.

This decision follows a lawsuit filed by the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago against the Trump administration, challenging the legality of its recent actions.

With the case still ongoing, the judge’s ruling allows the military presence to continue while the court reviews the matter further.

Around a dozen people have been arrested near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview, where tensions have been rising amid ongoing demonstrations.

Anti-immigration groups have gathered outside the facility for several days, drawing both supporters and counter-protesters.

Authorities say the arrests came after some participants refused to leave the area despite repeated warnings. Police continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further clashes.
