Hero HF Deluxe: Overview

The bike you see here is, perhaps, built for the sole purpose of commuting and transporting the rider from place A to B without any fuss. As simple as that. In this segment, motorcycles are judged and juried in respect to their value for money quotient.

And that’s where the HF Deluxe really excels. This bare-bones commuter is, as of 2019, the most affordable motorcycle in Hero MotoCorp’s portfolio. And, yet again, it’s decently loaded for the price too!

Hero HF Deluxe

The model you see here is the top-spec Hero HF Deluxe, which comes with all the bells and whistles. The front features a simple boxy headlamp, there is stickering all around the bike making it just a bit more flamboyant, the seat is narrow but long, and there are five-spoke alloy wheels in the mix too, although they are not a standard fitment.

Engine

At the heart of the Hero HF Deluxe is a 97cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that is capable of churning out 7.7bhp of peak power and 8Nm of peak torque. The engine has a bore of 50mm and stroke of 49mm. Further, it comes mated to a four-speed manual transmission. As of late-2019, the engine is BS-IV compliant, while there is still no official word on whether we’ll see a BS-VI compliant engine come April 2020.

Specifications

As mentioned above, the Hero HF Deluxe is neither a fancy motorcycle nor it’s going to pry any eyeballs on the move. In fact, the very simple design and compact dimensions are what makes it easily manageable. As far as numbers go, the bike is 1,965mm in length, 720mm in width, and 1,045mm in height. Further, it has a wheelbase of 1,235mm, ground clearance of 165mm, and a seat height of 805mm. The kerb weight, without any fuel, stands at 110kg.

Fuel tank capacity

The narrow fuel tank of the Hero HF Deluxe is good for 10-litres of fuel. The fuel efficiency, though, is simply stellar at an ARAI-claimed 83km/l.

Mechanical parts

Flicking the Hero HF Deluxe, thanks to its compact and narrow dimensions, is an easy affair. As far as mechanical cycle parts are concerned, the bike rides on telescopic forks suspension at the front and swing arm with 2 step adjustable hydraulic shock absorber at the back. The bike sits on a tubular double cradle frame chassis. The braking hardware comprises drum brakes on either end, 130mm at the front and 110mm at the rear. For the tyres, the 18-inch wheels are shod with 2.75 x 18 – 4 PR / 42 P section tyre at the front and 2.75 x 18 – 6 PR / 48 P section tyre at the rear.

Features

As the prices suggest, the Hero HF Deluxe does not come with any fancy electronics or digital displays. What we have here is a simple twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer at the left and an analogue fuel gauge at the right. Tell-tale lights are placed on both the analogue units. A nice addition, though, is a tell-tale light for the side-stand warning. As far as safety is concerned, the bike comes with CBS – or as Hero likes to call it IBS – as standard. On the electricals front, both the headlamp and taillamp miss out on LEDs.

Colours

You can grab the Glamour FI in five different colours: Candy Blazing Red, Black with Purple, Black with Red, Classy Maroon Metallic, and Boon Silver Metallic. In our opinion, the Black with Purple shade looks the most sorted of the lot.
