Ranking all RCB captains from IPL 2008 to 2020

For the longest time, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been one of the most consistent teams in IPL in terms of their performance. And they have their amazing captains to thank for such fiery performances. So, before we look at RCB team 2021 list and consider their chances of winning this year, let’s rank all RCB captains from the first to the latest IPL season.

Ranking all RCB captains from IPL 2008 to 2020

Rahul Dravid

The captain list of RCB starts with the former captain of Team India, Rahul Dravid, who led RCB in the first season of IPL in 2008. His name does not shine too bright in the list of RCB captains because though he led them in 14 matches, they won only 4, and didn’t reach the playoffs. The batsman represented the team for three IPL seasons before moving to Rajasthan. In total, he played 89 matches, scored 2174 runs, which included 11 fifties.

Kevin Pietersen

Next up on the captain list of RCB is Kevin Pietersen, who had bagged quite a hefty deal with RCB. However, when he was made the captain in 2009, he failed to taste success. Under the former English player, RCB managed to win only two out of six matches. The next name on the list of RCB captains was Anil Kumble, who got the team’s responsibility after Pietersen left to deal with his international duties.

With Kumble as their captain, RCB made a complete turnaround and reached the IPL final for the first time in 2009. However, they did not win it. Let’s see if RCB team 2021 list can fetch them that coveted win.

Anil Kumble

Kumble has moved from being a part of RCB team 2021 players list to the head coach for Punjab Kings, but the fans will remember his contribution to RCB. As mentioned earlier, he fared brilliantly after taking over from Pietersen. Being a local cricketer, he had a clear understanding of the pitch conditions and the temperament of his team.

In the list of RCB captains, Kumble led the team in 35 games across two IPL seasons. In these games, he won 19 of them and lost the rest. On his first turn as their captain, he led the team to the final. In the next season, the team reached the playoffs under his captaincy, though the final match evaded them.

All in all, Kumble showed his brilliance in 42 matches, where he picked up 45 wickets and had an economy rate of 6.6.

Daniel Vettori

Daniel Vettori, the former captain of New Zealand, is the next name on the captain list of RCB. He led the side for two IPL seasons, i.e., 2011 and 2012. Vettori was the captain of RCB for 28 matches, where he won 15 games and lost 13 of them.

Under his captaincy, RCB reached the IPL final for the second time in 2011. However, they could not win this time around as well, and Chennai Super Kings won their first IPL title.

Vettori has been the captain in 34 matches, where he won 28 wickets and had an economy rate of 6.8. Though Vettori is no way a part of RCB team 2021 list, he was their head coach between 2014-18.

Virat Kohli

The first name on RCB team 2021 players list is Virat Kohli, the current captain of Team India. Though Kohli had filled in as the captain in the absence of Vettori in a few games of IPL 2012, he officially became the full-time captain of RCB in 2013. He led RCB to the IPL final in 2016, where they could not win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Though RCB has made it to the playoffs three times under his captaincy, they have played only one final.

He has led the team in 125 games, where he has won 55 matches. Being on the RCB team 2021 players list, he can add more wins to that list this time. Kohli also has the record of being the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL.

In this segment you get the information about amazing cricketers who have led RCB from the first to the recent season of IPL. Now new IPL 2021 schedule has announced becasue previous tournament was suspended due to rising Covid-19 cases among the players, RCB was placed at number four.

It’s time to see whether RCB makes their mark when the tournament resumes in September. Keep watching Purewinnews for more updates!
