For new PAN card registration for Indian, Form 49A is required. Whereas, Form 49AA is required by Foreign residents and companies.
If an NRI has changed their citizenship to other countries and not India, then that applicant needs to fill Form 49AA.

Tips To Fill The Form Properly
There are three major rules one has to follow while filling the PAN card Form 49A and these are:
- One of the basic rules is to fill the form entirely in the English language. One cannot use any other language. Also, make sure that you fill the form in block letters and not in small. Keep one box empty between two words.
- Pan card applicants need to attach two recent colour photographs. The photos must be scanned properly so that phot gets good clarity. This is necessary because the photograph will be displayed on the PAN card.
- Your PAN card requires your signature or left-hand thumb impression. This has to be done across the photo as well as on the form. The signature or thumb impression must remain inside the box provided and not all over the photograph.

Cost of PAN Card Application
PAN card application requires the applicant to pay a certain fee as registration and postal charges. For Indian citizens this fee is Rs. 116. Along with this, there will be a nominal online payment charges. For foreign citizens this fee is Rs. 1020.
After the payment part, the applicant needs to authenticate the application by submitting the documents. This can be done via e-sign or you can physically send the documents to the registered address of NSDL.
Finally, you will receive the PAN card within the period of 15 to 20 days after the verification of the documents. The card will directly be couriered to the postal address mentioned on the form.
