5 Hairstyling Tricks Every Woman Needs To Know

Hairstyling Tricks – The stars sometimes align and you end up having a good hair day without needing to do too much. However,  most of the time it does take some maintenance to have good hair. Fortunately, the maintenance can be fairly minimal if you use the following hairstyling tricks.

Use the 5 tips below to streamline your regular hair routine.

  1. Use hairspray and a toothbrush to tame frizz

It is a delicate balancing act to use hairspray to control your frizz. If you spray on too much your hair will end up very stiff. If you use too little it will not make a big difference.

For Melissa Frazier – a decluttering and downsizing expert by trade – she notes that the balance of frizz is something that can take a bit of time to lock in. “It took me a while to get the balance right. The first few times I was a bit embarrassed to leave the house! But you do learn the more times you do it, it just takes practice.”

To ensure you are using the right amount of hairspray to tame your frizz, take an old toothbrush and spray it with hairspray. Then run the toothbrush over your flyaway pesky strands. That will keep your hair in place but won’t turn it into a helmet.

  1. Braid your wet hair to have curls the next morning

To avoid having to use curlers or a hairdryer, braid your hair at night after you take your shower (either one French braid or several small braids depending on the style you desire and your type of hair), and then leave in the braids while you are sleeping. Undo the braid in the morning, and then spritz the waves using some texturising spray. To achieve bouncy waves, scrunch your hair with your hands.

  1. Before going to bed use dry shampoo

If you need to wash your hair but know you will not time in the morning before going to school or work, place dry shampoo on your head before going to bed.

Aromatherapy entrepreneur Glenda Bell highlights the importance of using dry shampoo, especially the fact that not a whole host of people utilise it. “Most people get confused about the concept of dry shampoo funnily enough, but it truly is a hairstyling trick that not many women use. I’ve been doing it for a while and it works wonders, especially when I wake up in the morning with fresh hair!”

Overnight, the shampoo will work into the strands of your hair and result in healthy-looking clean hair the next morning.

  1. Use hairspray to keep bobby pins in place

If you have straight, sleek hair that results in bobby pins sliding through it, place the bobby pins on top of a towel and then spray them with dry shampoo or hairspray. Pick the towel up carefully by the corners and then shake it to distribute the dry shampoo or hairspray evenly onto the bobby pins. You will be able to style your and be confident that your bobby pins will not slide out.

  1. Curl straight hair using aluminium foil

For anyone who has hair that has a difficult time holding a curl, divide your hair into segments. Curl each of the segments around your finger. Then fold it up inside the squares of aluminum foil (the size of your square is going to depend on what size of curls you would like to have). Heat each of the squares of foil for around 20 to 45 seconds. Then wait until the foil cools down before removing it.

According to Lisa Renn, an Australian nutritionist, aluminium foil is used for more than just wrapping food up! “On the surface, it sounds so strange – foil in your hair. But it’s a method that’s proven to work. It takes a bit of effort to make it right, but that’s the case with a number of things in life. Once you get it right though, it’s a great feeling and a trick you can always use if you need curls in your hair.”

If necessary, hairspray can be used to hold your hair in place. However, you will often discover that your curls will hold all day long.
