Maintaining healthy weight seems to be far difficult in today’s modern life where you are always running on empty. In recent years, several gyms have opened up with professional trainers helping a number of people to stay physically fit, but not all people can afford gym subscriptions especially those who are living from paycheque to paycheque. Do you think that you cannot stay healthy without a gym? Well, you need to focus on your diet and exercise to maintain healthy body, and it is not set in stone that you need a gym to exercise.

Stressful life is one of the biggest reasons for taking a toll on your health. You can live better life without a gym. Here is how.

Take high fibre diet

A high fibre diet is extremely crucial to stay physically fit. Whether you are losing weight or not, you should take fibre-rich diet every day. There are two kind of fibre: soluble and insoluble. The former is water-soluble fibre that turns into a gel like substance when it comes into contact of water making you feel fuller, restricting your intake of food. This helps maintain healthy weight. Further, it slows down the digestion of food that means stable blood glucose. The latter adds bulk to your stool lowering the risk of constipation. It maintains the balance between good and bad bacteria in your intestines. Experts suggest that an average person should consume 30g fibre every day.

Start your day with high-fibre diet. This will stop you feeling energy drained. High-fibre food includes but not limited to scrambled eggs, corns, broccoli, oranges, apples, strawberries, beans and legumes, whole wheat flour, whole wheat bread, nuts and the like.

Restrict the intake of processed food

You do not need to completely cut down the intake of processed food such as pizza, biscuits, cupcakes, refined pasta, potato chips, cold drinks and the like. You may hanker for such food occasionally. There is nothing wrong if you eat them once in a while. If you consume such food regularly, you will of course fall prey to several health issues like constipation and diabetes. Processed food consists of empty calories that result in immediate spike in the level of blood sugar. If you eat it, make sure that your food plate is not large. Otherwise, you will gain weight. Chew thoroughly and slow down, which is associated with reduced intake of food. Fast eaters are more likely to gain weight.

Walk when possible

Walking is the best exercise to maintain overall health of body. If going to gym is not possible for you, get up early and go to park. If you are so busy that you cannot go to the park, you should avoid your personal vehicle to cover shorter distances. Walk around when you talk on your phone. Use stairs instead of lifts provided you do not need to go to the 10th or 11th floor. You can even walk up and down the stairs of your own house. During break in your workplace, you should take a stroll.

Buy fitness equipment

You can create gym atmosphere at your home. You can buy dumbbells and barbells to strengthen your body muscles and bones. Treadmill will help you burn calories if you are lazy to go to park or very particular about gym atmosphere. If you do not have enough money to invest in equipment, you should ask your friend and family if they are not using them or you can take out quick loans in Ireland. As you put in the loan application, a lender will go through it and disburse money same day.

Sleep well

Even though your diet is good and you do enough exercise, it is likely that you fail to maintain physical fitness. The reason can be lack of sleep. An adult must sleep for eight hours in a day. Make sure that you are consistent with your sleeping schedule. A lack of sleep may disrupt your appetite and increase the level of stress hormone called cortisol. Disrupted hormones and mood can increase your craving for unhealthy food.

The bottom line

Your lifestyle habits can affect your health drastically. Following conventional diet and exercise plans are not possible in a busy schedule. You do not need to worry if you cannot go to gym. Eat fibre-rich food, cut down on sugary drinks, restrict the intake of processed foods, use fitness equipment and take proper sleep. Make a schedule and follow that strictly. This can truly help you live healthy lifestyle.
