India is a land of beauty and bountiful nature. India has the oldest history of civilization and the oldest known language and script. Indian sages and saints were incredibly well versed in medicine and worldly affairs. Philosophers such as Charaka and Sushruta are credited to be the father of medicine and surgery. Even in the modern world, indian medicine is considered safe and superior to English or Western medicine. Many foreigners migrate to India looking for Ayurvedic treatments and Ayurvedic medicine such as Ayurvedic massage oils and Ojas Ayurveda Products. These are age old medicines that have proven benefits to the human body without any side effects.

Indian Traditional Healing Practices

It is believed that each part of India had their own version of ayurvedic treatment methods. For example, the Persians and the Urdu speaking clan had Unani, which is a native treatment therapy inspired by Ayurveda. In South India, the practice of Siddha Vaidya existed, which is a branch of medical science based on ayurvedic principles. When the British rule took over, indian medicine and Indian healing methods took a backseat, as British doctors opened clinics and hospitals which eventually wiped off all struggling Indian physicians. This has what resulted in the current scenario where only Allopathy or western medicine is being followed. Indians have all but forgotten their roots and heritage of traditional healing Practice.

There are numerous treatments and healing methods in Ayurveda, most of which targets  each particular illness and its causes. Some popular healing methodology is listed below:

  • Ashtavaidya

Ashtavaidya is a type of Ayurvedic healing process adopted by native Indian physicians in Kerala. The practise was developed by a group of ayurvedic disciples who came up with ayurvedic treatments based on various inscriptions and textual knowledge of ayurveda. Ashtavaidya concentrates on 8 key bodily functions covering head to toe and the illness associated with them. The most important concept of ashtavaidya includes the practice of both internal purification and external curing methods. Ashtavaidya believed that medicines and lifestyle was a part of internal purification whereas curative methods involved treatments and surgery for the specific illness. Both these concepts go hand in hand.

  • Abhyanga

Abhyanga is an art of well being achieved through blood circulation and therapeutic massages. Abhyanga is performed by trained healers who understand the type of illness based on the doshas in the body. Then the patient is given a complete course of treatment using ayurvedic oil baths, massages, medicines such as Ojas ayurveda products are given to the patients. These products are a combination of essential herbs such as dashamula , haridaki, guduchi etc which is required to heal the body and provide strength and stamina internally. Combined together, these treatments are proven to work wonders in the body. 

  • Vedic Lifestyle

Vedic lifestyle refers to eating clean and eating foods that are grown organically and locally where you reside. There is a common conception in Ayurveda which says that your body is evolved to accept food which is grown in the 10mile radius of where you live. Which translates to eating garden grown vegetables, cereals and pulses. There is also a saying that the meals should be in direct proportion to the position of the sun. Meaning that your breakfast needs to be small, nutritious but simple, your lunch needs to be the biggest meal of your day rich in vegetables, fruits, animal protein and dairy. Dinner should be around the time of sunset and it should be the simplest and the smallest meal of the day. It is advised that once the sun is set, your body metabolically turns off therefore it is not healthy to eat beyond sunset. 

  • Yoga

Yoga is a powerful tool to circulate the blood and pump fresh oxygen into the blood. Yoga opens up clogged paths in the blood and the airways and helps release toxins. Unlike a regular exercise program, yoga involves conscious movements and breathing techniques which benefit each and every part of the body by releasing tension and invoking flexibility and movement. Yoga helps in better posture and the ability to focus. It builds strength and stamina from within.
